The Kulturbrauerei is located on the grounds of the former Schultheiss Brewery which stopped working in 1967 because of out worn machinery. The building complex is one of the few well-preserved monuments of industrial architecture of the end of 19th century.
The 25 000 m² large area is one of the most popular cultural places in Prenzlauer Berg. Daily music, film and cultural events take place here.
The Frannz-Club, the cinema in the Kulturbrauerei, the Literaturwerkstatt, the integrative theater RambaZamba, the Russian PANDA Theater, the Alte Kantine, the Kesselhaus, the Maschinenhaus, Soda-Club and Soda-Salon are the most popular locations.
Further more there are creative schools and shops, restaurants and cafes. The open air space and the courtyard are in use for big events, concerts and festivals.
In Advent season the Lucia Christmas market delights children and grown-ups in the courts of the Kulturbrauerei. It is known as one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Berlin.
