Old Pankow developped in the Middle Age around a green place and the old parish church which today is seen as the oldest monument of Pankow.
The public park and its entry gate became the emblem of whole Pankow. Florakiez and Amalienpark are caracteristic places in Old Pankow.
Since 2002 the old quarter has given name to the administrative district Pankow.
